STUDIO 4℃

Studio 4°C is a Japanese animation studio founded by 森本晃司|Koji Morimoto('Beyond' in Animatrix, Memories), Eiko Tanaka|田中栄子(producer), and Yoshiharu Sato|佐藤好春 in 1986. The name comes from the temperature at which water is densest.

They are known marrying the spirit of independent festival animation with a more mainstream anime aesthetic. In addition much of their output is considered superflat(usually concerned with consumerism and sexual fetism in postmodern Japanese context) with some artwork from Morimoto being featured at Takashi Murakami's exhibitions.
